My Story

Dear all!

Welcome to my page

I'm Bea, an active person and have been since I was young, participating in speed and long-jump events. Although this is my first ever half marathon—I hope it won’t be my last!

I am running for the Network for Africa which is an devoted charity that supports vital work in education, mental health, and sustainable development across vulnerable regions in Africa.

About Network for Africa
Network for Africa helps survivors of conflict or genocide and their families in sub-Saharan Africa to overcome trauma and rebuild their lives through access to mental health care and livelihoods support. Our community mental health and livelihoods programmes enable survivors to overcome the paralysis of trauma and mental-ill health, empowering them with the tools they need to rebuild their lives and escape the cycle of mental illness and poverty.

Please support their work by donating towards my half marathon.
- £10 could pay for one mental health clinic giving people with mental illness support, diagnosis and where necessary, medication.
- £40 could train one community member to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental illness and then support and refer them for treatment.
- £60 could pay for livelihoods for two people with mental illness so they can earn an income, save regularly and secure their long-term recovery.

Every contribution makes a difference. If you could spare anything no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful!

Thank you, Bea.

The Big Half follows a stunning 13.1 mile closed-road course, starting by London's iconic Tower Bridge and finishing at Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
