Laura Jane
My Story
Meet Laura Jane, a dedicated musician and passionate advocate for the therapeutic power of music. Raised in New Zealand and now based in Sheffield, Laura has seen firsthand how music can transform lives. As a former special needs music teacher, she has witnessed the incredible benefits that music brings to individuals with disabilities.
Laura Jane is running the Big Half to support The Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT), an organisation committed to making a difference to people of all ages with disabilities or long-term health conditions. OKMT ensures they have access to affordable music therapy, improving their quality of life and wellbeing through creative and participatory music-making. The Trust also uses specialised methods to teach children and young people with disabilities to play a musical instrument or sing, and perform in public concerts.
Each year, OKMT helps over 550 people to communicate, concentrate, gain confidence, make friends, and participate with pride in community activities. As one parent shared, “OKMT offers a wonderful, supportive space for my child to develop music skills. It has brought light into our lives.”
By supporting Laura in the Big Half, you are helping OKMT continue its vital work. Your donation will enable more individuals to experience the life-changing benefits of music therapy. Follow Laura Jane's journey and support her fundraising efforts on Instagram and TikTok at @laurajanemusic.
Please give generously and help Laura reach her fundraising goal. Together, we can make a difference through the power of music.
